Interview Absolute |

Can you remain to us the story of Absolute ? Our story is pretty simple. The four
of us have always made music in various bands and projects before we
started ABSOLUTE in late 2004. I was without a band since 2003 and in
early 2004 I decided to start up something new. So I started writing
songs right away. I knew Robby from parties and some of the same friends
and so it was inevitable that we would end up jamming together. Pogo was
the bass-player for a band I knew back in the day, who I just asked per
Email if he was interested to join a new project. Roberto and I had
worked in various projects before and since I used a little studio next
to his, it didn’t take much time until he decided to join us in the new
band.
We have so many different musical
influences that it is actually kind of hard to name just a few. We all
come from different musical backgrounds and we all listen to so
different kind of stuff that it is really hard to just give you a few
names. But of course there were some CD’s that have repeatedly crossed
our path in the making of our record, from artists such as:
I think that is probably one of the hardest things to do for us. We would always say that it’s just Rock-music. Of course we are using a lot of musical styles in our songs, but in the end they’re always Rock-songs. We always ask people from the outside what they think it sounds like, but we haven’t found a name for it, yet.
"The Ultimate Show" is the perfect song for us to come out with. It represents best what we do – both musically and message-wise. It is also one of the first songs we have written as a band. With this song we want say tell the world that we are here and that everyone is welcome to join us.
The writing process of ‘The Ultimate Show’ was pretty cool. We really wanted to make a song that was gonna stand for all the different aspects of music we stand for. So we started off writing a riff to basically headline the whole song, right after we came up with a hookline and put it on top of it. So there it was, the start of the song. We wanted to make something new and we had decided that we were going to make it a real rap-vers with drum-loops, thick basses and all that and then in the hook we wanted to go as fat and heavy as possible to go rock ‘n roll!!! So instead of mixing up heavy guitars and rap and all that shit we put everything next to each other ….to get the maximum for each genre ….the ultimately best we can provide for each style. That’s how ‘The Ultimate Show’ was born.
That’s pretty simple. We as a band always want to be able to welcome everybody to our music and our shows to just hang out with us. We don’t wanna sit there and say that a certain group of people is not welcome because of whatever bullshit reason. Everybody that likes our shit and that wants to have a good time and to maybe even forget everyday business for a while and just let loose is more than welcome to join us. So we’ll be everybody’s fantasy and you can use us for whatever imagination you seem fitting …
What’s there to say!?! I think it’s badass rock ‘n roll-video that kicks ass. You see a lot of partying going on just the way we all dream about it all the time. Of course out of the view from a male rock-band … ;-) …I think in the end it just shows that we don’t really give a shit and that we just want to have a good time playing our music …
Oh my god, that could turn out to be a long list …okay, so 2 all-timers from each one of us: Toby: Pantera – Vulgar Display Of Power / Pearl Jam – vs. Robby: Stone Temple Pilots – Core / Deftones – Around The Furr Pogo: Dizzy Mizz Lizzy – Rotator / Led Zeppelin - Remasters Roberto: AC/DC – Back In Black / Pink Floyd – The Wall
Seriously, I don’t know how to answer
that. I mean, we don’t even make metal, as far as we’re concerned. We’re
just a rock band, but all in all I think that the metal scene has gotten
a lot of different faces in the last couple of years. So it happens that
we – as a non-metal band – have fans from that genre that listen to a
lot harder stuff.
Oh hell yeah, that was awesome. It was in a Frankfurt club called ‘Sinkkasten’ and we were one of five bands that night. We came with all that electronic bullcrap and guitars, amps, drums …basically everything we owned to make it all happen on stage. I think we were on as the third band and the people in the audience were all in a great fucking mood. We were so nervous not to fuck up with all the electronical stuff and still rock the club. Everthing went great, the people liked it, nothing went wrong except our monitoring was all out of order when we were on, so all I heard was the P.A.-sound reflecting back from the other side of the club. But other than that I think it was a night worth remembering. It’s just too bad that we don’t have any pictures or videos of that show …oh, well but that’s okay … ;-)
Right now our management is planning a tour for this fall when our album comes out. So far we have a few festivals during the sommer, for example the Summer Breeze in August, but tour dates will be confirmed soon, as well.
Well, we’ve just released the first single, the album is still due to come out and then we’ll take it from there. We have a lot of plans for this band and we’ll hopefully get to turn them all into reality one after the other.
What can we say, just stay true to yourself and don’t get bothered too much by the opinions of others. Just enjoy life and everything you seem fitting for it!!! We’ll see you all soon, hopefully in concert …
