Can you tell the readers a bit about the
band's history ? We started out in early 2007. Me and Eric (guitar) were involved in different bands and we got tired of playing with lazy people. So we decided to start a band with only talented and devoted people. That’s when we found our singer, Aram. We also needed a drummer and Aram knew a perfect one, Matte Modin. He had just left Dark Funeral so the timing was perfect. He liked our songs and he was in. Soon we started with the pre-production of what was to become our debut promo and few weeks ago it was finally released.
The four of us have been in a lot of bands for years so the influences are extremely wide and different. Still there are a few bands we like that we have in common. Depeche Mode, Sisters of Mercy, Type O Negative, Paradise Lost, Editors, Joy Division, HIM, The 69 Eyes etc.
There are elements of rock n' roll, electronica, glam and goth. It's melodic, there is a bit of melancholy and "catchy-ness". Music to party and make love to ;)
Yeah, we recorded the songs in Uppsala, Sweden, and we had two great producers during the process. As a new band it’s always difficult to find your own sound, but our producers helped us with that and I can proudly say that the promo turned out pretty well. Two songs have been out for only a couple of weeks and so far we’ve received very positive response. A brand new song is coming up soon too. The songs also gave us a place in the "Mama Trash Family".
It often starts with a melody, and as the song is growing, lyrics are written and soon you have a new awesome Amy’s Ashes tune.
Eric usually comes up with the first idea of a song and then the entire band co-writes it. Aram is responsible for the vocal melodies and I’m the main lyricist.
The lyrics are often but not always personal, written in a way that people can hopefully relate to them. They’re often about love, ups n downs in a relationship and so on. The topic can also be personal tragedies, dreams, life and death, the people I love and love to hate. Same goes with the inspiration.
That’s a tough one! I can only speak for myself, but one of the Top 10 is certainly Type O Negatives "October Rust".
Actually, we haven’t had the time for that yet! But as soon as the CD: s are printed we’ll start looking.
Well, we drink alot. And when you’re wasted pleasant but also unpleasant things happen. Once I woke up with Eric’s foot in my mouth!!! Both of us had passed out and somehow IT ended up there. NOT to recommend ;-(
Yes, we’ll try to pull something off by the end of the summer. But first we have to focus on promoting the band and finding the right label.
First and foremost, finding a label and to record an album.
Thanks for playing our songs! Hope we can play in France some day and meet you guys!
