Interview The Lovecrave

Uhhh hope you have space for this :)... So let's see ... me and Tank (guitarrist) write and play music together for 10 years now, we used to have a new punk/metal band , The Flu, and we toured a lot and did a record for Sony Music Italy back in year 1999... right after that Iakk joined the band as drummer. The first idea for The LoveCrave came at the end of year 2003 and we started the project around it. Simon joined us in year 2005 just in time to record the bass tracks in the album. Since then many things happened to us in less than a year... contracts, tour and now the realease of the album which is a dream come true for us.

In the band we all have different influences, from the classic hard rock sound, to the street metal and we all love the 80s sound in electronic and metal as well. Basically we all love bands who write great songs and brought new sounds to their time.

I would describe it as a gothic hard rock with electronic elements... is there a word for this kind of music style? :) we are still looking for it...

The first thing to know about "The Angel And The Rain" is that it's a concept album. In the digipak you can find a complete story and read the lyrics of the songs which are parts of it. It's of course an experiment...who knows if people will actually read the story? Anyway it's a different way of facing the album, more complete I think, the writing can explain better the emotions and make you live the enviroment of the music, that takes place in a big city, with rain, darkness, fear, love, death and strange things happening.

All the songs were written by me and Tank. We usually come with an idea alone. I mean I bring an idea to him and he starts working on it or either the opposite and then we start building the atmosphere of the song on the pc. In the beginning it's not a real song, it's just a "world" and slowly it takes a shape and it's ready to be rehearsed with the band.

The lyrics are part of the story as I said before but they are also a part of my life. Every song has its own word to describe its emotion: "Little Suicide" is a silent rage, "The angel" is the eternity , "Can You Hear me?" is the rebellion, "My Soul" is the soul explosion... and so on, I just live again in my mind, as I write them down , really impressive moments I've been thorugh.

I am a graphic designer in my day time life so I did all the art work.

No, you know ... we love so much this band... it's just perfect for us! I mean we are free to do exactly what we want and we feel very lucky cause we found right away a label who really believes in us and walks completely in our direction.

It's really hard to say... I can talk for me... probably my fav album ever is "Operation:Mindcrime" of The Queensryche, but there are soooo many I could name. I love Ozzy, he's one of my favourites and of course The Iron Maiden who will be on top of my list forever.

It's pretty hard to say. It's very hard for a band to find new sounds nowadays so I think that the media should start listening really carefully to every album they review cause there are some bands around who really try to search sounds and do a very hard work on the production but you can't notice it if you don't concentrate in the listening. So I think that the metal scene is awesome but new things are not always helped by the media. I have to say that this is not our case cause everybody has supported us a lot until now... but I'm sure it'll happen to us very soon too!

Oh sooo many … you know Tank is the wildest person in the world, he is really rock’n’roll and Simon, on the other hand, is the most clean and precise guy so you can imagine how funny it is. It has happened once on tour that Simon had to go to the bathroom but he felt embarassed cause Tank was in the room sleeping. Simon took the iPod and put the earphones in Tank’s ear. He pushed "play" and Panthera started playing SO LOUD. Tank woke up and was sooo mad! He kept yelling for the rest of the day… sooo funny!

Oh yes but first we have to wait for the release. When the album is out then our agency will start the booking for next year. We will do some big festivals and that is really exciting for us even if I always love to play in smaller clubs too.

Hope you don’t need a jingle cause I’m sooo bad in that J … I want to say :" You guys are so lucky to have metal shows on the radio!…in Italy there is none … so ROCK ON and spread the LoveCrave! " … how was that?
